Bleach: Best Visored Members

May 05, 2024May 05, 2024

The Visored are a group of Captain and Lieutenant level Shinigami who gained the power of Hollows. But who among them is truly the strongest?

Following the Hollowfication Incident which took place in Soul Society over a century prior to the start of Bleach's main storyline, there emerged a certain group of Lieutenant and Captain-level Shinigami who were able to manifest Hollow powers — effectively the antithesis of the Arrancar in Bleach. This was a consequence of the ordeal they had suffered due to Sosuke Aizen's experiments. However, on finding and retrieving them from the scene of the crime, former 12th Division Captain Kisuke Urahara was able to stabilize their condition with an object he created known as the Hogyoku.

After being banished from Soul Society and stripped of their rank since they committed the taboo of acquiring Hollow powers, this group of individuals retreated to the Human World. Over time, they mastered the Hollow powers they had been granted, which materialized as a mask appearing on their faces. Dubbing themselves the "Visored," they became sworn enemies of Aizen and proved vital in the Gotei 13's conflict against him and the Espada during the Battle of Fake Karakura Town. Due to the enhanced speed, strength, and Reiatsu they possess with their Hollow masks, each member of the Visored is immensely strong, which is not a surprise considering their earlier ranks among the Gotei 13.

Primarily a Hakuda-style combatant, Mashiro is a unique case in that she is able to maintain her Hollow mask for nearly 15 hours when not under duress. This type of resonance with an inner Hollow is quite unprecedented, and the enhancements in her speed, strength, and durability are also considerable, where she can shatter the masks of Gillian-class Hollows.

She possesses Lieutenant-class Reiatsu and can also fire a powerful Cero with her kicks. However, her fighting style does leave a lot of openings, which is why she is ranked lowest.

With Lieutenant-class Reiatsu and an aggressive fighting style, Hiyori Sarugaki is a Visored who is not to be trifled with, as she can be quite ruthless as an opponent. Unfortunately, her aggression also makes her prone to spouts of recklessness, since her short temper leads her to charge blindly into a combat situation without any plan.

She is a capable fighter with both her Zanpakuto, which takes the form of a serrated cleaver and in hand-to-hand combat, especially with the enhancements of her Hollow mask. Lastly, she is also extremely proficient at using Cero-based attacks, even among the Visored.

Despite being a Lieutenant, Lisa Yadomaru is said to possess vast reserves of Reiryoku, comparable to those of Captain-class Shinigami. An expert in the art of Shunpo, she is also extremely proficient at combining attacks that utilize her Zanpakuto as well as her hand-to-hand combat skills with a focus on powerful kicks.

Her Shikai takes form as a massive polearm with a blade like a Monk's spade, on one end, and a heavy ball at the other end. All these attributes are augmented when she dons her Hollow mask.

Although he played a massive role in defeating the 2nd Espada, Baraggan Louisenbairn, Hachigen Ushoda, or "Hacchi" as he is often known, is more adept at creating barriers with his supreme Kido abilities and employing strategy to outwit opponents. In fact, he is a pacifist at heart who struggles with swordplay, Shunpo, or more physically arduous endeavors.

That being said, he is an expert at Kido, having been the former Lieutenant of Tessai Tsukabishi in the Kido Corps. He has created advanced barriers, seeking out and concealing Reiatsu, or even using his barriers for offensive purposes.

As the Captain of the 3rd Division in the Gotei 13, a rank he also held before his involvement in the Hollowfication Incident, Rojuro Otoribashi, or "Rose," as he is often known, is a powerful swordsman in his own right. He is particularly proficient with his Zanpakuto, which takes on the form of a golden whip in its Shikai state.

His powers are centered on musical motifs that create illusions that can deal physical damage, with his Bankai taking it to the next level. They become even more potent when he dons his Hollow mask, which he can maintain for three minutes at a time, just like the other Visored save for Mashiro.

Clever, strong, and merciless in combat, Love Aikawa was the former Captain of the 7th Division in the Gotei 13 prior to him becoming one of the Visored. He is fairly intuitive as he can accurately gauge an opponent's abilities and find ways to sidestep them. That being said, his fighting style is quite explosive, in a very literal sense.

His Zanpakuto in its Shikai release takes the form of a massive black kanabo, or two-handed club, which uses fire to enhance its impact. During the Battle of Fake Karakura Town, he was able to engage both the 1st Espada Coyote Starrk and Aize with only his Shikai and Hollow mask.

An expert hand-to-hand combatant, with a wind-type Zanpakuto, Kensei Muguruma is the Captain of the 9th Division in the Gotei 13. Excelling at Hakuda and short-range combat, Kensei's Zanpakuto turns into a combat knife in its Shikai state. With it, he can manipulate air currents and launch blades of wind and energy to devastating effect.

On releasing his Bankai, the combat knife turns into a pair of knuckle blades that focus even more of his power into his punches, which generate explosive amounts of force on impact. This is further augmented by his Hollow mask, which takes his destructive power to entirely new heights.

The de facto leader of the Visored and Captain of the 5th Division, Shinji Hirako is a master swordsman, a superb Shunpo and Kido user, as well as a very astute tactician with a monstrous level of Reiatsu. In addition, his Shikai ability possesses the power to invert everything about an opponent's view of reality, making it near impossible to defend against.

His Bankai is even more fearsome, so much so that it is banned from being used in all of Soul Society. This is due to the fact that it turns friend into foe, making his opponents slaughter themselves indiscriminately.

While he may not be one of the original Visoreds, there is no doubt that Ichigo is a member of this group as he meets all the necessary conditions to be admitted into it. His greatest asset is his immense growth rate, obscene levels of Reiastu, and his heritage which makes him part Shinigami, Quincy, and Hollow. Able to grasp complex techniques in mere moments, Ichigo is primarily a swordsman and a gifted one at that.

He raised his speed and strength beyond those of a Captain-level Shinigami in a very short time after first becoming a Shinigami, and his Zanpakuto, Zangetsu inspires fear in all who are forced to contend with its power.
